Sandro Asinari was born in the province of Cremona in 1969. At the age of
14 he enrolled in the International School of
Violin Making in Cremona, attracted as he was by music and musical instruments.
Receiving his diploma in 1987, Sandro Asinari studied at the CEE Bottega
Scuola project under the guidance of Maestro Gio Batta Morassi, with whom he completed his
violin making studies, eventually opening his own workshop in Cremona in 1991.
He participated in numerous violin making competitions, both of national and
international level such us Mittenwald, Paris, Nacod and placing as finalist in the
competitions of Moscow, Bagnacavallo and Dolny Kubin . At the X Cremona Triennale
competition he received a mention of honor for a viola and at the XI Wieniawski
violinmaking competition in Pozan he received the Second Place.
During the course of his carreer he received numerous prizes at the Baveno

viola category and Special Mention for the best sound quality, Third Place in the category

As a teacher at the International School of Violin Making in Cremona he gave
courses in the specialty of scroll carving. He is member of the A. Stradivari Violin Makers Consortium of
Cremona and secretary of the National
Association of Professional Violin Makers A.L.I.
His instruments are inspired by the great masters of the antique Cremonese
school, Antonio Stradivari in particular, yet show inventiveness, personality and style.
They are especially appreciated not only by Italian conservatory teachers, students, and
orchestral players, but also in Japan, U.S.A. and in Taiwan.
